Split Rock and Pirate's Cave ATV tour, Turks and Caicos
A guided ATV tour from Grants Wheeland Gas Station to Pirate's Cave and Split Rock, on the wild southwest tip of Providenciales. You drive a brand-new quad, and your guide leads the way. The tour takes two hours, and it is private to your group.
What you’ll see at Pirate’s Cave and Split Rock
The ride out to West Harbour Bluff, the southwest point of the island, is half the fun. You leave the pavement behind and follow a dirt track through the scrub, past white salt flats and wild cotton left over from the old plantations, and you might spot herons, ospreys and now and then a flamingo. At Pirate’s Cave you walk over the bluff into a cave open to the sea, where shipwrecked sailors cut their names into the rock more than 200 years ago. One reads “Ship St. Louis, burnt at sea, 1842”. Then you stand on the bluff above Split Rock, a tower of limestone the sea has cut clean in two, with an osprey nest on top and West Caicos out on the horizon.
Who this tour suits
This tour suits people who would rather see the wild side of Providenciales than spend another afternoon on a beach chair. If you like a bit of dust, a bit of history and a corner of the island most visitors never see, it is made for you. It works just as well for one rider as for a group of friends with a quad each.

The corner of Millennium Highway and Tom Lightbourne Drive. Look for the small gas station. Your guide is there with the quads and the helmets. The ride ends back at the gas station it started from.

Operators
Must be 18 years or older with a valid driver’s license. One rider per quad, no passengers.
Cancellation and weather
- Free cancellation. Cancel or move your booking up to 24 hours before your start time, for any reason, at no charge.
- Weather. If it isn’t safe to go out, we don’t go out. If we call it off for weather, you have the option to rebook within 30 days or receive a full refund.

Is Split Rock safe to visit?
On this tour you are never out there on your own. A guide leads the ride out and back and stays with your group at both stops, and the booking is private, so the only people with you are your own group. The bluff ends in sea cliffs, so keep back from the edge.
Can you go inside Pirate's Cave?
Yes. It is a small cave, open on one side, not a tunnel. You reach it on foot over the top of the bluff, or, if you do not mind getting wet, by a shortcut through stomach-high water. Wear closed-toe shoes.
Which of the two quad tours should I book?
Both Caicos Rentals quad tours run two hours at $260 per ATV, from the same meeting point at Grants Wheeland Gas Station in Providenciales. This one is the history ride: a cave you walk into, with names cut in the rock, and the bluff above Split Rock. Northwest Point is the wild-coast ride, an old light tower and an empty beach.
Can two of us share one quad?
No. Each quad carries one rider, 18 or older with a valid driver’s license, and your group can take up to 10 quads out together. The ATV tours are the one ride we run with no passengers; children ride on a Jet Ski or in the Jet Car instead.
How dusty does it get?
Dusty. The track is dirt and sand most of the way. Goggles and a face cover are not included, so bring your own. Closed-toe shoes and long socks help.
Do I need off-road experience?
No. Every ride opens with a briefing and a practice loop, and a guide leads the route the whole way.
