Where the two hours go

You meet at the gas station on Millennium Highway and ride southwest, about 11 km of trail and track, roughly 20 to 30 minutes at riding pace. No highway. The route passes old salt deposits and wild cotton gone feral from the island’s plantation years, then reaches West Harbour Bluff. You get off the quads twice: once to walk into the cave, once on the bluff above Split Rock. The booking is private, so the only group on the trail is yours.

What you stop for

  • Pirate’s Cave. an open-faced cave at the bluff, with names and dates cut into the rock by shipwrecked sailors 200 years ago, one of them from a ship burnt at sea in 1842
  • Split Rock. the limestone stack the sea has cut in two, with West Caicos out on the horizon
  • The salt flats. old salt deposits and wild cotton on the way out, the part of the route nobody drives past
  • No highway riding. trail and track the whole way, out and back

Who this experience is for

Two hours on a quad, guided, with two stops you get off for.

Ages and licence, before you book

Send the ages of everyone coming when you ask about a date. They decide who can drive. Every rider signs a waiver at the meeting point.

Helmet on the whole ride

Helmet and protective gear are provided and worn throughout. The guide rides out front and sets the pace.

Closed-toe shoes

The cave is a short scramble on foot over rock. Closed-toe shoes, and long socks help with the dust on the track.

Up to 10 riders go out together, and the booking is private to your group.

Cancellation and weather

Free cancellation. Cancel or move your booking up to 24 hours before your start time, for any reason, at no charge.

Weather. If it isn’t safe to go out, we don’t go out. If we call it off for weather, you have the option to rebook within 30 days or receive a full refund.

Questions before the Split Rock ride

Two hours, two stops, one private group. Most of what people ask is which of the two quad rides to take, and what to wear.

Which of the two quad tours should I book?

Both run two hours at $260 a person from the same meeting point. This one is the history ride: a cave you walk into, with names cut in the rock, and the bluff above Split Rock. Northwest Point is the wild-coast ride, an old light tower and an empty beach.

How dusty does it get?

Dusty. The track is dirt and sand most of the way. Goggles and a face cover are not included, so bring your own. Closed-toe shoes and long socks help.

Do I need off-road experience?

No. Every ride opens with a briefing and a practice loop, and a guide leads the route the whole way.
