What you’ll see on Iguana Island
Ten minutes across the clear, shallow flats and you step ashore on Little Water Cay, a protected nature reserve of about 116 acres that everyone calls Iguana Island. Follow the boardwalk through the scrub and the rock iguanas are everywhere: sunning on the sand, watching you from the bushes and slipping into the burrows they dig all over the island. About 3,000 of them live here. They are the largest native land animal left in Turks and Caicos, and an endangered species found only in these islands and on one small cay in the Bahamas.

Drive to the very end of Leeward Highway. Your guide meets you at the dock, wearing Caicos Rentals attire. The ride ends back at the same dock it started from.

Cancellation and weather
- Free cancellation. Cancel or move your booking up to 24 hours before your start time, for any reason, at no charge.
- Weather. If it isn’t safe to go out, we don’t go out. If we call it off for weather, you have the option to rebook within 30 days or receive a full refund.
Are the iguanas dangerous? Can I touch them?
They are wild animals on a protected cay, and you keep your distance. They are not aggressive and they are used to people on the boardwalk, but nobody touches them and nobody feeds them. The guide will tell you where to stand.
Can you visit Iguana Island without a tour?
Yes. The Turks and Caicos National Trust runs the cay, and people also come by private boat or by kayak, inside the hours the Trust sets. A visit outside those hours is by appointment with the Trust.
What are the rules on Iguana Island?
The National Trust asks everyone to stay on the boardwalk, bring no dogs or cats, keep the noise down, not smoke, and take their trash with them, because the cay has no bins. Feeding an iguana is more than a rule: the environment department treats it as harming wildlife, which is illegal under the National Parks Ordinance.
What does the price include?
Everything on the Caicos Rentals Iguana Island tour: your Jet Ski and its fuel, your guide, the safety briefing, a life jacket, bottled water and the National Trust entry fee for the boardwalk, all with tax. Marina parking at Heaving Down Rock is not included.
Do I need to know how to swim?
You do not get in the water on this one. You ride out, come ashore at the boardwalk, and ride back. Everyone wears a life jacket the whole time on the ski.
Do I need a license or experience?
A Caicos Rentals Jet Ski tour needs no license and no Jet Ski experience. Drivers must be 16 or older. You sign a waiver and complete the briefing before you go out.
